Bio

Graduated with a Bachelors of Music Education from San Francisco State University, Oscar E Villagrana combines classical technique with popular music to teach a practical approach of trumpet, singing and playing ukulele.

Oscar has also studied in numerous programs around USA and Europe such as: Conducting Institute Summer Program at Westminster Choir College in New Jersey, Kodály Eartraining Institute Summer Program at New York University, Amsterdam Student Choir in Netherlands. Although his focus has always been ensemble performance and conducting, he has been involved in numerous musical genres.

Having spent seven years involved in San Francisco’s music scene such as; San Francisco Wind Ensemble, Bay Area Raindow Symphony, San Francisco Afro-Cuban Ensemble, Yoshi’s Jazz Club, Presidio Middle school, SFSU Music Theater, Living Jazz and Berkeley High School, Oscar is experienced in a diverse range of musical positions such as: Student Musical Composer and Director, Orchestra Director Assistant, Middle School Music Assistant, Jazz Band Artist Liaison, Music Office & Events Coordinator Assistant.

Also having a background in linguistics, he is able to combine music with learning new languages. He carries a repertoire in English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch.

I believe that the funnest approach to music is a repertoire including the combination of students musical interest and technically progressive pieces.
