Bio

Hi everyone,

My name is Rachel Bayliss and I have been teaching singing for over 20 years. I  love being part of a wide community of singers and amateur musicians quietly supporting each other to upskill, enjoy singing and express themselves musically.

After a break overseas I am offering a limited number of daytime lessons in Central Christchurch (Peterborough St).

Singing has been a crucial part of my mental health and creative expression. With a holistic mix of technique, psychology and positive experiences my main intention in teaching is to support people to move from hesitant to confident, embodied joyful singers.

I enjoy offering my students performance opportunities and there will be both an end of year concert and a Christmas Sing-A-Long that people can participate in if they are ready. Having a successful (happy) performance experience is unmatched in its transformative power. There’s nothing like the hit of a room full of happy people clapping because they enjoyed your performance.

Other stuff:

  • If you would like to learn basic ukulele to accompany yourself I can help you with that.
  • From Term 3 2025 I will be the conductor of women’s choir ” Women In Harmony” which practices in St Albans on Thursday nights.
  • I will be teaching a public singing workshop in Diamond Harbour at the beginning of August.
  • I don’t love phone calls but happy to receive texts and emails.
  • Payment is expected “on the day” in cash or via internet banking.
  • Cancellations require 48 hours’ notice to escape payment.
