Bio
I’ve been playing drums for over 30 years, both here in New Zealand and overseas. I’ve worked as a full-time professional drummer in covers bands, original projects, and studio sessions—it’s been an amazing journey so far!
I also have a background in teaching, with a Bachelor of Education and ten years teaching experience. These days, I’ve decided to combine that teaching experience with my love of drumming to help others learn and grow as musicians.
For me, drumming should always be fun—but it’s also super important to learn the core skills properly. Good habits early on make a big difference and help set you up for long-term progress and creativity. For me, it’s important to understand what your playing and develop your own unique voice from there. Key word, Understand.

Teaching Info
Learning an instrument can sometimes feel intimidating, whether you’re just starting out or seeking to refine your skills with a more experienced teacher. But don’t let that worry you! Life is all about growth, and it’s important to ignore that inner voice of doubt.
As a professional drummer and teacher, I find immense joy in seeing effort and practice pay off. Progress, no matter how small, can ignite a fire within and inspire you to become not only a better musician but also to see new possibilities through perspective, encouragement, and the right guidance.
Earl was totally responsible for getting me back into playing drums again after a long hiatus. As well as being a fantastic drummer with great technical knowledge, groove and feel, he is a patient superb teacher. I owe him my second “career”as a drummer and highly recommend him. Great guy too.
