Charlotte grew up in Timaru and began learning violin through the Suzuki method age 4. She also learnt piano growing up and sat her ATCL piano performance diploma at age 17 in which she was awarded distinction. Charlotte completed her Bachelor of Music with Honours at the New Zealand School of Music in 2018, majoring in classical violin performance.
Charlotte’s teaching career began during her university years and she has continued teaching in both Australia and New Zealand since graduating. She has experience teaching piano and violin students of all ages and abilities in individual and group lessons. Charlotte has guided some of her students to successfully audition for youth orchestras and gain scholarships to secondary schools music programmes. Her students have a 100% pass rate for Trinity Guildhall Examinations. Charlotte encourages all of her students to perform regularly during the year and to develop solid foundations and musicianship on their chosen instrument.
Charlotte has played in a number of orchestras and chamber music groups in Wellington, Auckland and Adelaide. During her time at university she played in the orchestra under the baton of many well known conductors including Kenneth Young, Schlomo Mitz, Shelly Berg, Donald Armstrong and Roger Fox. In 2017, the orchestra played in the Kiwi Christmas film soundtrack. She has been an active member of community orchestras which include Wellington Youth Orchestra, Wellington Chamber Orchestra, and the Adelaide Norwood Symphony Orchestra. In 2020, she played first violin in a string quartet for the Adelaide Chamber Music Festival and was a member of the String Orchestra who accompanied Michael Bublé in concert at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. More recently she has been freelancing amongst the Auckland music community and plays regularly with the Auckland Symphony Orchestra.
Lessons are tailored to the needs and learning styles of each student. This includes theory and aural training.
