Deborah Geri is a very gifted music/drama teacher who brings the best out of all her students of various ages. Worked in Australia and the UK, Deborah promotes performance and is prepared to go the extra mile with her students always taking them to higher achievements.
Quick bio: Music Specialist Teacher, Performing Arts Teacher, Speech and Drama Teacher in NZ until 2007.
2008-2025 Music Specialist in Australia Primary to Y12, Secondary Drama Teacher in the UK.
In NZ, bringing 30 years skill and experience in strings piano and voice for performance, examination, showcases and Eisteddfod.
With the Christchurch School of Music as student and teacher to 2007, have been a member of the Christchurch City Choir and CSO Choir.
Teaching Info
Begin with technical warm up, work on problem areas, set smaller goals for the lesson, work on up to 3 pieces, basic to advanced theory. Some of my students want to do a theory examination and I assist in this – up to 15/20 mins per 1 hour lesson. My students have accomplished 100% pass rate, with distinction.
Good relationships have brought many successes and victories in accomplishing great strides in music education. I love my profession and my students can tell that.
I will be teaching from my home in Central Christchurch, or at your home. Price negotiable for travel to student home.

Piano lessons - all ages. As a piano student myself at the Catholic College of Music from age 5, piano has been my intimate friend all my life, and brings such joy to me when I play myself!
My joy for music takes me around the world, one of my favourite places is Leipzig at the Bach museum and the Thomas Kirche with the display of wonderful Baroque string instruments Johann Sebastian used with his musicians and students 400 years ago. Very humbling!
Deborah creates a warm and focussed atmosphere. Her students enjoy performing putting their trust in her expertise and gentle guidance to produce quality and confidence.
