Bio

If you want to free up your natural singing voice, learn how to emotionally connect with a song, and find your own way of engaging with your audience by removing ‘blocks’ and finding the true meaning in the lyrics, I can help you.  Perhaps you need to overcome nerves and practice your repertoire next to a supportive, professional ‘ear’? I also specialize in one or two-off coaching sessions.

For more than 35 years Delia has been working professionally in Show Business, mostly in Australia but also here in New Zealand, Asia and the UK. Arguably, she is best known for her portrayal of Grizabella in several productions of Cats in Australasia, along with lead roles in many other shows, such as Fantine in Les Miserables (10th Anniversary Production Australia New Zealand)),  Ava Peron in Evita, Florence Vassey in Chess, Rose Vibert in  Aspects of Love,  Glinda in The Wizard of Oz,  Miss Santiago in The Buddy Holly Story, The Baker’s Wife in In To The Woods (Auckland Theatre Company), Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia, and The Bird Lady in Mary Poppins (Disney Australia) and many more.  She has appeared on TV shows and sung in various concerts in venues ranging from small clubs and theatres to large stadiums (The Music Of Andrew Lloyd Webber).

As well as receiving several nominations in Australia for the Green Room, Mo and Helpmann Awards, Delia was awarded two Mo Awards, for Aspects Of Love and Cats, also A Variety Club Award  and a Sydney Critics Circle Award for ‘Best Actress In A Musical’, for her portrayal of Mrs Johnston in Blood  Brothers. She has recorded an album called ‘Downstage Centre’.

More recently she has toured in concert with 50 Golden Years Of Musicals with Paul Potts of Britain’s Got Talent fame and has featured in APO  Concert series as a soloist singing the songs of American Legend, Stephen Sondheim.

Teaching Info

Let me guide you to a place of ease and enjoyment with your singing. I will focus on whatever you want out of your sessions, whether that be:

  • Vocal coaching
  • Audition preparation
  • Performance coaching
  • Acting the song
  • artist mentoring

Students may bring in their own material to learn, based on their music  interests and voice type. Of course I can also guide students in their song choices.  Lessons will take place at my house. We will begin with a warm-up and vocal exercises before getting straight into working on your song. Please bring good quality backing tracks or YouTube links on your device.

I would describe my teaching style as informal and intuitive. I take my cues from the student and will adapt to whatever will help them learn, grow, and achieve their goals. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
