Bio

I am a musician and Guitar/Ukulele teacher with over 30 years teaching experience, tutoring children (5yrs up) individual and groups, and adults.

I have taught at private music schools around Wellington(Encore!School of Music) and currently teach Guitar/Ukulele groups and individual students at Pauatahanui School. I also teach music at my home studio in Porirua.

I have experience with special needs students, teaching individual lessons to autistic students, using adaptive strategies to support engagement, confidence and learning.

I have played in original and covers bands for most of my life, covering a range of music styles; Rock, blues, reggae, Jazz(trio/duo), funk, country, pop.

In 2007, I completed a Diploma in Rock,Jazz and Commercial Music at Whitireia Polytechnic. I currently play guitar in ‘Coverstory’ band, performing regularly around Wellington.

 

 

 

Teaching Info

My lessons involve talking with each student to discover their music goals and aspirations, and providing them with the skills to achieve them.
We start with basic chords and simple rhythms. I want students to learn Songs as soon as possible.
For intermediate or advanced students, we work on music theory, chords, scales, technique, transcribing songs, solos, licks and musical phrases.
