Cello Teacher | NZSM Graduate | Exam Preparation | Auckland
Esther Lee is an Auckland-based professional cellist and dedicated music educator. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Cello Performance and a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from the New Zealand School of Music, where she was recognised on the Dean’s List for academic excellence.
As an active performer, Esther performs with professional ensembles including the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra as a casual musician. She brings her experience as a performer into her teaching, helping students develop strong technique, musical expression, and confidence.
Esther currently teaches cello at Harpitree Music School and has experience teaching private lessons, group classes, and ensemble coaching. Her teaching approach is supportive, engaging, and tailored to each student’s individual level, learning style, and goals.
Lessons focus on building a strong technical foundation, developing musicality and confidence, improving sight-reading and aural skills, and exploring a range of repertoire from classical works to music that inspires each student. Esther welcomes beginners through to advanced students, including students preparing for ABRSM examinations and other performance goals.
Lessons are available across Auckland suburbs, including Henderson and surrounding areas, with in-home lessons available for an additional travel fee.

Esther’s cello lessons are designed to help students develop strong foundations, confidence, and a lifelong enjoyment of music. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s age, experience level, learning style, and personal goals, creating a supportive and motivating environment where students can progress at their own pace.
Lessons focus on:

Whether a student is beginning their cello journey, preparing for examinations, or working towards performance goals, lessons are structured to support steady progress while keeping music enjoyable.
Esther welcomes students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players, and offers preparation for ABRSM examinations and other performance goals.
