Bio
Harris Leung is a graduate of the University of Waikato and was a semifinalist of the National String Competition 2021. He has played solos with several amateur orchestras in Auckland, and plays in numerous professional orchestras throughout the country including Festival Opera, Opus Orchestra and the Dunedin Symphony, often in a concertmaster or section principal role. Harris was an Auckland Philharmonia Fellow in 2019 and has most recently studied under Lara Hall at the University of Waikato.

Teaching Info
I emphasise music making at all levels of playing. This is made possible by considering closely the relationship between sound and the movement of the body. I encourage regular movement through the repertoire and introduce aspects of technique when they are needed.
Students are welcome to take lessons at their own pace, or to work towards regular exams.
I have many years of teaching experience including private lessons, leading orchestral sectionals, and lecturing and running tutorials at university. Most recently I was one of the resident tutors at the Auckland String Quartet Summer School 2026.
