Bio

Australian violist Isabella Bignasca is an international performer and dedicated educator recognised for her thoughtful, expressive music-making and deep commitment to artistic curiosity. She recently joined the Auckland Philharmonia as a section violist and previously was a 2023–25 Fellow of Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect. During that time, she served as a resident teaching artist at City College Academy of the Arts in New York, working closely with students in both classroom and ensemble settings. In 2025, she was named an Emerging Artist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Isabella holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School, where she studied with Paul Neubauer and Heidi Castleman. She has performed at leading venues including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and the Sydney Opera House, and has collaborated with artists such as Itzhak Perlman, the Borromeo Quartet, Clive Greensmith, David Grimal, and members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Isabella’s international festival appearances include the Verbier Festival, Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Perlman Music Program Chamber Music Workshop, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West and the Heifetz International Music Institute.

With over ten years of private teaching experience, Isabella is passionate about building strong technical foundations, sustainable practice habits, and confident, expressive musicianship in each of her students.
