Kia ora katou,
My name is Josiah Abbott – I am a Music Educator and Freelance Creative. I specialise in a number of music teaching areas, including guitar, composition/songwriting and the journey of creating music in pursuit of one’s musical voice.
I have taught secondary school music (Years 9 – NCEA Scholarship) for 5 years, over which time I collaboratively led various school co-curricular groups, including; Orchestra, Jazz Band, Production Bands, and Rockquest groups.
It is never too late to begin music, or start up again. Remember, there are no wrong notes, just strong choices – make one today by allowing me to accompany on your music learning journey.
Teaching Info
I offer a range of services, these include:
- Electric Guitar Lessons (I cover a range of styles, including; Rock, Blues, Metal, Funk & Fusion). However, my main endeavour is to equip students with Modern knowledge and skills to develop a musical voice.
- Music Production Lessons (for the modern aspiring producer + songwriting, or general enthusiast)
- Composition Lessons (Classical & Contemporary – having majored in composition and taught NCEA through to the Scholarship level)
- Music Theory Lessons (Contemporary & Classical grades).
- NCEA Music Tutoring (Level 1 – Scholarship)
- Orchestration & Arrangement Lessons & Services (Transcriptions, Chamber & orchestral arrangements and/or Reductions, Virtual Mock-ups – Differing price from above)
