Bio
Having recently returned from living and studying in New York City, Jack is opening his studio to students in Ōtautahi/Christchurch. Over the last 20 years, he has developed a comprehensive approach to learning mastery of the trumpet through the study of music.
Jack has played lead trumpet with the Rodger Fox Big Band, was a member of the New Zealand Army Band for four years, and has toured and recorded with artists such as the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, L.A.B, Drax Project, Scribe, Rob Ruha and more.
Jack was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to complete a Master of Jazz Performance at New York University in New York City. He was also awarded the Directors Scholarship from the dean of the Steinhardt School at NYU to cover his tuition for the degree.
Teaching Info
Tuition is tailored to the goals and needs of each student. Focus is put toward developing a practice routine that builds foundational technique on the trumpet. A good practice routine that balances difficult and unfamiliar material with familiar and satisfying material is the key to steady progress.
