Bio
Jayan completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours majoring in composition at the University of Auckland. Jayan teaches a range of styles from classical, rock, pop and jazz. He has also played in many cover bands and music groups as well as composed film scores for short films that have entered film competitions and festivals such as Rode Reel, Tropfest and Lift-Off Sessions. Jayan’s compositions have been performed by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, the NZ Double Reed Society, ACE Brass Trio (APO) and the Auckland Youth Choir.
Teaching Info
I have been teaching piano, guitar and drums for the past five years, and this has provided me with the skill set to teach and develop students their music abilities both in practical and theory. Having such a great passion for composing and performing music will not only be rewarding to mentor students but also pass down my musical knowledge and experience to future musicians and composers. The lessons are adapted and tailored to each student. If it’s learning how to play your favourite pop songs, classical pieces or just interested in learning an instrument for the first time. I can teach both ABRSM and Trinity for drums and piano. I have taught at Sherwood Primary School, Northcross Intermediate and Royal Oak Intermediate.
