Bio
Kia ora! My name is Maxime.
Originally from Manchester (UK), I grew up playing guitar, drums, bass, piano and singing in choirs – all from the age of 6.
Since the age of 8, I’ve always played in bands/ensembles and music continues to ignite joy like nothing else.
I studied Popular Music & Recording at Salford University, which included jazz guitar, jazz drumming, ensemble work, composing, music production, studio engineering and musicology.
I then went on the study music at NZSM, majoring in Sonic Arts & Music Technology. This included music production, mixing for film, binaural recording and audiovisual coding.
From playing in bands all my life, to all the technology-based study I’ve completed, I feel my variety of experience enables me to transfer knowledge from a wide-pool of creative disciplines into my music lessons.
These days, I bring my 18 years of experience into the various projects I’m involved in around Te Whanganui-a-Tara and it’s still just as fun as when I started playing.
My mission with these lessons is to spark & advance the student’s creativity, excitement and passion for music.
In my sunny, vibrant home in Kelburn (where other musicians also live), it’s a safe, comfortable yet stimulating place to explore and learn!
