Bio

I grew up in Gisborne playing the violin in the Gisborne Youth Orchestra and completed my Master of Music in viola performance in 2014 (NZSM, Victoria University of Wellington).

Since graduating, my primary profession has been teaching the violin, viola, and guitar to both individuals and groups.

I also teach Irish 4-string banjo, mandolin, and recorder.

Teaching Info

I teach a Classical foundation of basic technique followed by the student’s choice of whether to continue in a Classical, mixed, or Irish-ish folk direction. I generally teach music notation reading at the same pace as the technical skill of the instrument, but occasionally make exceptions for adult students who prefer to learn by ear.
