I am a Lyric Soprano and Singing Teacher based in Waitakere, Auckland.
I have always had a love for performing and singing since a very young age. I was born and raised in Waitakere. I went to Waitakere Primary School and Waitakere College. Since I was 10 years old I sang in shows and competitions. I was involved in all the school shows, talent quests and harmony groups.
I am a member of the New Zealand Opera Chorus, having just sung in the APO’s concert opera Aida and recently completed their season of Donizetti’s Elixir of Love. And about to begin rehearsals for La Boheme. I am a founding member of Opera Factory and have done numerous concerts and shows with them and I am still involved with Opera Factory and continue to enjoy performing for them.
I completed my BMus from the University of Auckland before moving to London and studying at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music.
My desire to perform has led me to be involved in numerous operas and operettas, including: Abbess in Suor Angelica. First Lady in Magic Flute. Nora in Riders to the Sea. Aida. Elixir of Love. Carmen. Manon Lescaut. Eugene Onegin. Jenufa. La Boheme. Turandot. Lucia di Lammermoor. La Traviata.
Also numerous placings in competitions including: Rutson Prize Winner (English Art Song Recital), Royal Academy of Music. Third Place Hamilton Aria Competition, Hamilton Performing Arts. Finalist North Shore Aria Competition, North Shore Performing Arts.
I continue to have private lessons and am currently working towards getting my L.T.C.L qualifications.
I also have a Graduate Diploma in Primary School Teaching.
My musical styles taught are Classical repertoire, Musical theatre and some Pop songs (where appropriate). I believe good vocal health and technique are the foundations of becoming a great vocalist, in all genre’s of singing. Young singers need to learn the staples such as breath control, posture, articulation, resonance and projection. They also will work on the interpretation, expression and artistry of the songs and music.
I can offer Music Theory if required and Students have the opportunity to participate in singing competitions and exams if desired.
