• Qualifications: 50 years of experience. Over 3,000 students taught in NZ and Australia, privately and at two Community Colleges: nine years in Australia and thirteen years in New Zealand.
• Pricing: $60 per hour or $35 per half hour (single), $75 per hour (two people), $90 per hour (three people)
• Styles: Contemporary, pop, rock, folk, country. Accompaniment rhythm and lead guitar.
• Suitability: From 10 years to adults (prefer adults)

Bio

Started teaching in 1975 and ran a music school in Sydney for three years. Taught privately on and off between spells of live performance, for twenty years in Sydney and Canberra.

Came to New Zealand in 2007 and began teaching guitar at Papanui High School, Continuing Education: four classes a week. Also taught private classes at home, either single or up to 15 people in a group.

After a break of three years whilst performing around New Zealand, now keen to start teaching again, preferably from home but also willing to travel to students’ homes for an increased fee.

Teaching Info

Lessons are tailored to the student’s needs. A basic understanding of the instrument is taught first and simple exercises, then simple chord progressions and accompaniment of popular songs. They’ll learn strumming techniques and understanding of rhythm and/or finger picking and flat picking. More advanced students will learn single note soloing and scale patterns.
