Bio
Christchurch based Violinist.
I’m currently studying a performance degree on the Violin alongside a Fine Arts degree at the University of Canterbury. I’ve held leadership roles in multiple orchestras I’ve been in, serving as Concertmaster of both the Burnside High School Orchestra and the Christchurch Youth Orchestra for multiple years in a row, and was appointed Principal Second Violin of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Symphony Orchestra. I’ve also performed with the National Youth Orchestra twice.
I have received guidance from a multitude of teachers and professors. Some of which include Carlos Ballara, Jonathan Tanner, Stephen Larsen, Mark Menzies. I’ve also had the privilege of having masterclasses and lessons from Violinists abroad, including James Ehnes, Benjamin Beilman, Christian Tetzlaff, David Chan, Moni Simeonov, Ning Feng, and Hu Kun.
Teaching Info
I enjoy sharing my love for music to the world.
My teaching approach includes a focus on the technical aspect of playing as well as transferring that to musicality, creating a fun and motivating environment. I hope to teach artistic communication through sound, and pass on my knowledge that strives to be relevant outside of the instrument.
I aim to search for and offer what a student would benefit most from to flourish rather than following a strict protocol of repertoire and exercises.
