Violin Lessons | Aural Lessons, Theory Lessons, NCEA Music Tutoring
Bio
Kia ora! Welcome to my page.
I have been playing violin for 18 years and graduated from the New Zealand School of Music in 2022 with a Bachelor of Music in Classical Violin Performance, which included a course in Musical Pedagogy. I am a high-school teacher, so if you require support for NCEA Music Levels 1-3, I can also assist here.
I previously taught at Raroa Music Centre in which most of my students have been between the ages of 7-12, however I am happy to take on beginning adult or high school students as well.
Teaching Info
As mentioned above I aim to tailor lessons to individual students, this includes their musical self and interests. While my undergraduate qualification was in Classical Performance, I have also played and taught tunes in the aural stylings of Irish/Celtic Folk music. I am open to students requesting their own repertoire as a performance goal outside of these genres as well (e.g. pop, country, musical theatre etc.)
I encourage parents/whānau to sit in on their tamariki’s lessons if possible. This becomes less necessary as students get older and more self-directed in their at-home practice, but is still welcome nonetheless.
I am based in Upper Hutt currently and prefer to teach in person from home.
