Director of Auckland Piano Performance School is formed and founded by a Korean pianist/educator who had over 25 years of performing and teaching experience and decided to establish a school which provides holistic approach to piano performance.
Having completed two degrees in piano performance; Bachelor Music from Ewha Woman’s University in South Korea and Master of Music from Australia, working at private schools (Presbyterian Ladies College, Hale School and Swan Christian College) as a head of keyboard studies, performance instructor and a musical theatre accompanist were most rewarding experiences as a musician. As a head of keyboard studies at Presbyterian Ladies’ College and performance instructor at Hale school in Australia, a performance coach and an instrumental instructor at Ewha Woman’s University and University of Western Australia before taking up psychology studies and Master of Music therapy papers at Victoria university in Wellington provided her diverse range of teaching skills and approaching methods to different individuals.
Soloist performance include works with Korean and Japanese strings orchestra in South Korea, and featuring artist at the Korea-Australia’s 50th year of Friendship concert in Perth, Australia and a solo piano recital at te manawa concert series in New Zealand.
She is a devoted educator for the piano music and her passion is helping students to reach their full potential, particularly for young children who demonstrates musical interests but unable to express their talents in traditional manner using traditional methods. One of her specialties is to provide tailored lessons to suit individual’s needs and meet their specific goals.
Most of her students excelled at their performance, auditions and exams. Some have been accepted for their further studies in prestigious music schools; Royal Academy of Music in London and Sydney Conservatorium in Australia. Recently her students excelled at international competitions winning the first prizes at Melbourne Piano& Strings festival (2019 & 2020) ,NewYork (2019), Vancouver (2022) and Singapore (2022).
As she loves interacting with people, she enjoys community work and working with musicians at any age group. She looks forward for an opportunity to meet untapped talented musicians and share her musical knowledge and experiences to many potential budding learner.
