Bio
Viki Jin is a classically trained pianist, educator, and versatile musician who is passionate about music and loves sharing its joy with others. Alongside her classical training, she has also developed interests in jazz piano and percussion studies, including drum kit and marimba. These diverse musical experiences have broadened her artistic perspective and enriched her teaching approach, helping students develop creativity, rhythmic awareness, and well-rounded musicianship.
In 2020, Viki completed a Bachelor of Music and Commerce at the University of Auckland and was awarded a distinction in her Trinity LTCL diploma. She has also received numerous awards in piano competitions across Auckland, Hamilton, and Te Awamutu. In 2021, she earned the LMusNZ Piano diploma from NZMEB, followed by a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Canterbury in 2022. She achieved the AMusTCL in 2024, and most recently, in 2025, was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) with Merit — one of the highest performance qualifications offered by ABRSM.
With over a decade of teaching experience, Viki has worked with students of all ages and abilities. Many of her students have achieved outstanding results in competitions, earned high distinctions in ABRSM examinations, and received various awards for their musical accomplishments.
Passionate about music education, Viki has developed an engaging and effective approach to teaching music theory. She believes that theory should be understood through creativity, exploration, and practical application rather than memorisation alone.
Lessons are available in both English and Mandarin.
