Teaching Info
Elena provides a strong technical foundation and shares her love of music in every aspect of her teaching. Elena is a registered Level 1 Suzuki cello teacher and continuing her training to Level 2.
Elena has a very hands on and active approach to music, she likes to make lessons fun and enjoyable for everyone so she incorporates movement and various educational games into the students learning which have proven to be advantageous especially for children of young ages.
Elena strongly believes in the suzuki philosophy and teaching music like a language with what is called the mother tongue approach. Every child learns the most complex of languages easily through: Exposure, Example, Encouragement, Repetition and Refinement. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend and actively participate in their child’s learning so they can they take on the role as the teacher at home; this supports their progress, success and enjoyment.
At the heart of Elena’s teaching, you will find the seven concepts of Suzuki:
Every Child Can Learn
Success Breeds Success
Environment Nurtures Growth
Parental Involvement is Crucial
Children Learn from One Another
Ability Develops Early
Encouragement is Essential
