Ingrid Schoenfeld is a classical pianist and accomplished teacher. She recently completed her Bachelor of Music in Classical Performance with first-class Honours at the New Zealand School of Music. She is also a provisionally registered IRMTNZ teacher.
In addition to piano, she also studied harpsichord for three years under prominent early music specialists Dr. Erin Helyard and Douglas Mews.
She made her orchestral debut in 2016 with the Nelson Symphony Orchestra, playing Shostakovich’s 2nd piano concerto. In addition to performing regularly around Wellington, she is also an accompanist for the Northern Chorale.
An experienced and engaging teacher, Ingrid offers lessons at her studio in Brooklyn, Wellington. She teaches on a beautiful Ibach grand piano. Her thoughtful, individualised approach to teaching draws on her postgraduate study in music education as well as her own practice as a performing musician.
In addition to lessons, Ingrid organises regular concerts to provide performance opportunities for her students. These fun, friendly events generally involve a Steinway grand, a beautiful space, and occasionally masterclasses with other professional musicians.
She has successfully prepared students for piano exams – all achieving consistently high results.
