Bio

Hi there, I am a professional violinist and experienced violin teacher currently based in Christchurch.

I play regularly with all the major orchestras in New Zealand including the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

Prior to moving to Christchurch, I was living in Auckland as a Contract Tutti Violinist with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.

I have many years of private teaching experience and have previously taught at Epsom Music School in Auckland where I helped students pass their ABRSM/Trinity Violin Grade exams from Grades 3-8 all passing with Merit or Distinction.

I have a Master of Music degree from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours) from the New Zealand School of Music in Wellington. In Melbourne I played regularly with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra from 2012-2013.

I mostly teach at my home studio in Casebrook, but I may also be able to travel to you for a fee depending on location – don’t hesitate to get in touch, I would love to hear from you :)

Teaching Info

I like to start each lesson with scales and technical work after which we will work on repertoire. I use the Suzuki books and/or Grade books or whatever pieces the student may be working on, and at the end if there’s time I like to play duets with my students for sight reading practice.
