Jane has over 30 years teaching experience preparing students for the Australian Music Education Board, ABRSM and Trinity exams and has taught at the Tamworth, Newcastle and Sydney Conservatoims of Music and in schools throughout Sydney, Bowral, Canberra in Australia and Nelson, Taupo/Turangi in NZ. Her students have received full music scholarships to Sydney and international music schools. A successful career as a freelance orchestral and chamber musician, as well as running her own string quartet business, has included working with the Sydney, Tasmanian and Canberra Symphony Orchestras, with Musica Viva in Schools, for many commercial productions of musicals in Sydney and Asia including Porgy and Bess, West Side Story, The Sound Of Music, Annie, The Addams Family, An Officer and A Gentleman, Showboat, Les Miserables, and Miss Saigon. She has played on numerous movie soundtracks and with visiting artists such as Robbie Williams, Barbara Streisand, Olivia Newton-John, John Farnham, Johnny Diesel, Sarah Blasko, Micheal Crawford, Leo Sayer, Dizzy Gillespie and more.
Jane accompanies her students on piano and recently began teaching cello successfully via Skype. She has a passion for many styles of music and believes everyone is able to be enriched through playing music.
Cello lessons cover note recognition, technique, bow hold, posture, relaxation techniques, fingerings/bowings, intonation awareness, aural training, music theory and history, interpreting musical and composer’s styles, exposure to great performers. Happy to support preparation for ABRSM, AMEB or Trinity exams or for personal enjoyment and to work with students of any age. Students will need their own instruments.
