Linda’s music has been performed by Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Ensemble Klangrauschen, B3:Brouwer Trio and the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble. As an award-winning composer, Linda has participated in several festivals across Europe and the US, including the Aspen Music Festival, SICPP (USA), Etchings Festival (France), UPBEAT (Croatia) and VIPA Festival (Spain).

Linda has just completed a Master of Musical Arts in composition at Yale School of Music, studying with Christopher Theofanidis and Martin Bresnick, amongst composition faculty including David Lang, Aaron Jay Kernis and Hannah Lash. She graduated in May 2021, proudly receiving the John Day Jackson Prize in chamber music composition. An alumna of Berklee College of Music, Linda majored in composition and flute performance. She also holds a Master of Music with first class honours supervised by Eve de Castro-Robinson, alongside Bachelor degrees in Arts and Commerce from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She is a member of the Composers Association of New Zealand and represented by SOUNZ centre for New Zealand Music and APRA AMCOS.

As a flutist, Linda has performed in festivals and for large audiences, including the Monterey Jazz Festival (USA), Manly Jazz Festival (Australia), Symphony Under the Stars (NZ). Linda has experience as a principal flutist in orchestras, jazz bands, as a session musician and chamber music player, and enjoys playing in many musical genres.

Teaching Info

My teaching style is positive and collaborative. I’m passionate about music and I like to bring that energy into each lesson.

My teaching experience includes private flute and composition lessons, and teaching in schools and music centres across Auckland, and Boston and New Haven in the United States. Most recently I have been giving Zoom lessons to several high school students in New Haven throughout the pandemic, as a Teaching Artist with Yale School of Music. I have also tutored students in core music subjects including harmony, counterpoint, arranging, conducting, ear training and solfege at Berklee College of Music (Boston).

I’d be happy to work with you to sit flute exams, help you compose your first piece of music, work on musicianship – anything you like!

We can do lessons on Zoom from anywhere, or in person from my studio on Auckland’s North Shore, or in other locations in Auckland. Please don’t hesitate to be in touch and enquire.
