In May 2020 I completed my studies at Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music at Victoria University. After studying music for 5 1/2 years, I am now looking to take on new students to share and nurture the gift of music.
I began my musical journey on recorder, to clarinet, to saxophone. I also play flute, piano and am currently learning violin. I grew up in Taupō and moved to Wellington after Year 12 to begin tertiary study, after being inspired by high school jazz workshops and the NZ Youth Jazz Orchestra held in Wellington. Throughout high school I did Trinity Guildhall exams on alto saxophone. I was part of the NZYJO from 2013-2017. The last few years I have taught ensembles at the youth jazz workshops held every year by the NZ Jazz Foundation.
I perform regularly in Wellington and across the country. Some bands I am part of include the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band, and the Rodger Fox Big Band. I have also performed and worked with Lord Echo, Thomas Oliver, Louis Baker, and L.A.B. In 2016 I was the first New Zealander to ever successfully apply for the JMI Jazz World Orchestra, an international jazz orchestra (ages 18 to 23) for the world’s top young jazz musicians. This experience included a week of rehearsing in Germany before touring Europe.
My aim as a teacher is to nurture each students unique relationship to music, hoping to always create a fun environment which makes them excited to practice.
Teaching style will differ from student to student, but will always be positive, comfortable, inclusive, and patient.
Note: To uphold inclusivity, pricings are negotiable depending on affordability
