Bio
As a long-time drum enthusiast, Marshall has pursued a career in teaching what he loves. Since a very young age, he would “play drums” by tapping on everything he could get his hands on, and at 14, he was able to convince his parents to enroll him in lessons. Though the tapping never stopped, the sound improved and eventually led to him graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music in 2022. Since then, Marshall has been tutoring in schools and at his home drum studio in St Andrews. Using his own resources, he takes a systematic approach to teaching drums and believes that everything can be broken down in a way that suits the students learning style. Marshall has found that learning drums is endlessly rewarding and his hope is that students discover that same lifelong passion for themselves.
Teaching Info
I am a full-time drum tutor and offer lessons at my drum studio in St Andrews. I teach Individual lessons Monday – Thursday 4-7pm and Drum classes on Saturday during the day.
Individual lessons are the best way for students to develop their drumming at a pace that suits their learning. It also allows for a full lesson of tutor attention to ensure correct technique through all stages of the student’s development.
For drum classes, I own three electric kits which allow students to hear themselves through headphones without the distraction of others. The sound system that the drum kits are connected to allows me to speak to all students with a microphone and listen to each individually.
