Bio
I am a violinist and violin teacher based in Dunedin, New Zealand.
I recently completed a MusB (Hons) at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music in Wellington, studying under Martin Riseley, and previously completed a MusB and BA at the University of Otago, where I studied with Tessa Petersen.
I regularly perform with the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, the NZSO National Youth Orchestra, and the National Youth Opera Orchestra. I have also taught violin at the Saturday Morning Music Classes in Dunedin, as well as at Onslow College and Amesbury School in Wellington.
In my spare time, I enjoy learning piano, reading, and swimming at the beach.
Teaching Info
I am enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and have over six years of experience teaching young beginners and adult learners to intermediate to advanced students.
I am committed to helping students achieve their specific goals, whether preparing for violin exams and performances or simply enjoying the process of learning new skills and repertoire. Lesson durations are flexible and can be adjusted based on the student’s age and level.
Teaching Philosophy: I believe that every student has the potential to excel and find joy in music. In my teaching, I strive to create a supportive learning environment that is tailored to each student’s learning styles, strengths and challenges to create effective and enjoyable lessons. This personalised approach helps students build a strong foundation in technique while fostering a love for music, guiding each student towards becoming a confident, skilled, and passionate violinist.
