Toni Lenore began as a classical singer, learning from a very young age with Barbara Hendry. She transitioned into contemporary singing at the age of 18, before deciding to go to University of Otago where she gained a Bachelor of Performing Arts majoring in Musical Theatre Vocal Performance as well as studying vocal anatomy and pedagogy. Toni has been involved in many local musical productions including Les Miserables (Taieri Musical, 2013), Phantom of the Opera (Musical Theatre Dunedin, 2015), and most recently, Mary Poppins (Taieri Musical, 2017).
Toni Lenore is currently teaching at The Voice Lab in Dunedin as a Senior Singing Teacher, as well as working part time as the Dance Teacher at St Hilda’s Collegiate.
Toni focuses on teaching excellent overall vocal technique using exercises and instructions to work towards sustainability and good vocal health. Students are encouraged to find their own material to learn, as Toni believes it is vital to enjoy the music that you are performing in order to make technical progress, however she is more than happy to help students research potential song ideas as well as allowing students to experiment with new genres and styles from pop and musical theatre through to classical. Lessons can be catered to any age or ability.
