Bio
I have over a decade of experience as a working musician in the Aotearoa jazz, pop and RnB music scenes. My work has involved performing and recording as a Saxophonist and Bass player, as well as composing, arranging and producing music for myself and others. Artists I have worked with include Aaradhna, Mā, TOI, Drax Project, LA Women, Louisa Williamson, Umar Zakaria and more.
Through a structured and goal focused approach to practice, I can help you build a strong musical foundation that will help you grow into a competent and reliable gigging musician.
Teaching Info
I teach out of a practice space on Webb Street in the Wellington CBD. Get in touch to discuss lesson times and any other questions you may have!
All of my lessons will begin with setting your personal goals, and we will work together to build a structured practice plan where you can track real measurable improvements week by week. All levels are welcome from absolute beginners through to advanced players.
The instruments that I teach up to an advanced level are Saxophone and Bass Guitar. If you are interested in lessons focused more on music theory, composition or songwriting, you can play any instrument in the lessons.
I can help you with:
- Developing foundational technique on Saxophone or Bass Guitar.
- Learning to play and understand your favourite songs by ear.
- Jazz improvisation.
- Writing, performing and recording parts and solos.
- Developing a sound and style appropriate for jazz, pop, rock or RnB.
- Composing your own music.
- Understanding music theory and applying it to your own playing, composing and song writing.
- Reading sheet music, including reading chord symbols and improvising.
- Any other musical goals you may have!
