Daverne School Performing Arts. Tauranga and Auckland
I am an experienced teacher Director and performer who believes singing should be fun. Singing and drama is an excellent way to boost confidence and to develop self esteem in a performer. These skills can be transferred to their future careers.
Singing and musical theatre lessons are a great way to boost your confidence, self-esteem and to develop your vocal, drama, movement and performance skills.
My motto is Singers are actors who say their lines in tune. Therefore presentation and delivery is an essential skill for all performers. Opportunities for performance and exams available.

Musical Theatre: (Grade 1 – Grade 8 Trinity syllabus) Musical Theatre is one of the fastest growing areas of interest within the dramatic arts.
The three disciplines that are examined in these syllabuses are singing, acting, and movement / dance through integrative performance.
Lessons help develop confidence, and a sense of achievement. Students are helped to develop their creativity, performance, musical and communication skills as they create and explore stories, songs, roles and situations through the imaginative and integrated use of movement, music and voice.
Opportunities for Exams are available. All my grade students in 2016 and 2017 achieved Distinction in their Musical Theatre exams (Trinity College of London). In 2017 my Diploma students achieved Distinction in their ATCL (Musical Theatre) Exam. (Trinity College of London)
Elmire de Courcy Lys LUD Dr Art (London) I have known Christine professionally for 18 years and in this time has observed her teaching both “one on one” and in a class situation. I have also watched and assisted Christine directing children and adults in musicals for the Glen Eden Playhouse. In both of these situations I have found her absolutely professional and rarely skilled in getting the very best performance from both her students (of varying levels of ability) and from adults whose skills may not necessarily match their self-belief! Christine always impressed me with her patience and unfailing good humour, even when faced with the typical last minute problems of the theatrical production.
Bill Draper MSc (Hons), Dip Tchg We were recommended to Christine Daverne 18 years ago when looking for a singing teacher for one of our daughters. She has since taught two more of our children; Christine has fostered a lifelong interest in and pleasure from singing and musical theatre. I was delighted to see how singing with Christine and the musicals made Laura such a confident child and gave her such passion for music and performance that she still, in her third year of University, sings with a group, for pleasure. Harriet also gained so much from Christine – in her last year she was the female lead in “Chicago” in her school production – the highpoint of her school career! They all loved the musicals you directed and this gave them the confidence to successfully audition for every school musical, such great experiences. Thank you Christine, for all you have done for our children, I do not think we could have found a better teacher for our children. Over this time I have observed her teaching both “one on one” and in a class situation. In both of these situations I have found her absolutely professional and rarely skilled in getting the very best performance from her students. We have seen our children develop in confidence and know that they are now more able to speak in public, debate, even address a group of their peers and we know that this is in no small measure due to the “performance practice” singing and musicals give the developing child. Christine has always impressed me with her patience and unfailing good humour. I absolutely recommend Christine Daverne as a teacher of the Performing Arts.

Jane Verhoven Christine is a blessing in Lygia’s music life. She went out of her way to tap all the musical talents in Lygia – singing, music, dancing and theatre. She extended Lygia beyond her comfort zone. Christine, I appreciate that you helped her to grow in more than one dimension and made her grow in in self-confidence in the theatre which has become her second home. The constant feedback and the positive nudge helped her to be what she is today. During every concert, performance or competition, Christine looks for new ways to help her improve as a singer/actress. Your directions on the stage have helped Lygia to be challenged physically, mentally and spiritually. I can’t list some skills Lygia has accomplished with your guidance as a musical director in different shows she has acted in lead roles. Thank you, Christine, you are a blessing, and I will recommend anyone to your classes because you have a vibrant personality which automatically want children to come to your lesson.
