I recently completed my Bachelor of Music with Honours majoring in violin from University of Waikato, studying under Amalia Hall and Lara Hall. In 2015, I won the University of Waikato Concerto Competition and played in the NZSO National Youth Orchestra, and in 2016 my quartet won the University Chamber Music Competition. I began violin at age 4, studying the Suzuki method and attending lessons, group lessons, workshops and camps every year until I began university. As a Suzuki student I completed Suzuki Teenage Teacher Training twice, and have recently completed Suzuki Teacher Training Unit 1B. I began teaching privately in 2016.

Teaching Info

I teach using the Suzuki repertoire and Suzuki principles, in a way that is adapted to each student. I believe strongly in aural learning, always asking students to listen to their sound and asking them to give me feedback on how/what they are feeling while they play and how they would gauge their progress. Positive reinforcement is important to me, and I use suggestions on how to improve to pass on constructive feedback. I form a good rapport with my students, making sure they feel accepted and understood, whilst encouraging them to apply themselves to the violin and fostering a love for music.
