I currently offer lessons for any age up to the skill level required for a Grade 8 examination. Private lessons can be arranged at my home or I am open to discussing other alternatives. As for my teaching style, I am very patient and dedicated to see students succeed. As such I teach a technical/skills based approach as well as one of enjoyment and simply making music. This varies from student to student depending on their own goals, personalities, and what they require from me as their teacher.
I am keen to take students through the examination process, in fact I encourage it, and I am happy to discuss with you which examination board would be the most suitable to follow through with. In saying that, if the pressures of examinations are not your style that is totally fine, it is not a necessary route to follow in order to become an accomplished musician. Alongside teaching the actual mechanics of piano playing I am also able teach the accompanying music theory that is a necessary part of becoming a complete musician.
Group Lessons are also an option. These are charged at 50% of the full price so you are getting a one hour piano lesson for the price of half an hour. Group classes consist of 3 students for 1 hour using the 20/20/20 method. Each student spends 20 minutes at one of three ‘stations’, a one-on-one session with me, solo practice time at another keyboard, and a theory station or technical exercises on a third keyboard. This can be expanded to 4 students at 4 different stations if required. Through group lessons, students feel a sense of camaraderie in achieving goals together, competing with each other, and showing off new achievements each week.
